About Me

As a Registered Massage Therapist since 2015, my approach is attentive and sensitive to each client's particular needs.

I have an interest in the meeting place of persistent pain conditions, trauma, mental health and general wellbeing. I believe that healing touch combined with the creation of a safe space that is inclusive and welcoming has a powerful role to play in our health.

I have found that treatment need not be painful to be effective, and that longer lasting results come when promoting and enhancing the body's natural healing inclination. This often takes the form of a subtle approach with the goal of decreased pain and stress and an improvement in overall wellbeing. Treatments are customized to the individual, and clients’ needs are addressed through a variety of techniques intended to achieve long-term health - whether that means relief from pain, rehabilitation after an injury or surgery, nervous system support, or assisting lifestyle and exercise goals. Clients are provided with relevant self-care strategies in the form of strengthening, stretching and/or habitual changes to facilitate the road to health. I encourage my clients to play an active role in their recovery, as the most effective therapy is a team effort.

Background

I had a round-about journey into Massage Therapy. I first went to the Okanagan to study Fine Arts at UBC-O where I focused on abstract painting and critical thinking. I worked as a tree planter through University and later spent another four years fighting forest fires across Canada.

This physically intensive work helped further develop my interest in fitness and health. Add to this my history in endurance-based sports – including Biathlon, cycling, yoga, running, and canoe racing – and you have someone thrilled and awed with the ability of the human body to adapt, to strengthen, and to heal.

Nowadays I can be found having adventures with my kiddo, and exploring the Comox Valley’s rivers and lakes.
